China Unicom Hohhot Cloud Data Centre (中国联通呼和浩特云数据中心) is a data center project in Hohhot, China, operated by China Unicom Inner Mongolia (中国联通内蒙古分公司). It is operational and expanding. The operator has not published an IT load figure. It is planned for 30,000 racks, with 10,800 in service. ArusGrid does not convert racks into MW.
Latest change on record: moved to expanding on 19 June 2025. Record last checked against its sources on 22 October 2026.
This project is built or running, so every gate counts as passed.
Build odds is ArusGrid's reading of the public record, not a forecast, a rating or advice. It counts the gates this project has passed in public sources. Private progress does not show, a passed gate can be undone, and projects that pass every gate still stop. The method has not yet been tested against outcomes. How it works.
Horinger and Hohhot holds 10 active projects with 298 MW of planned IT load between them, and China Unicom Hohhot Cloud Data Centre (中国联通呼和浩特云数据中心) has no published figure so it sits outside that ranking. Of those, 3 are operational, 1 is operational and expanding, 1 is under construction, 2 are at the land and permitting stage and 3 are announced only. No third party publishes a colocation vacancy rate for Horinger and Hohhot, and ArusGrid does not estimate one.
China Unicom has 9 others in China tracked by ArusGrid, including China Unicom Zhongwei Cloud Data Center, China Unicom (Huailai) Big Data Innovation Industrial Park (中国联通(怀来)大数据创新产业园) and China Unicom Southwest Data Center (Chongqing Shuitu). It sits on the China Unicom Hohhot cloud data centre base, 2.6km north of Hohhot high-speed rail station campus. No tenant has been disclosed, which is normal for colocation and says nothing about occupancy.
The build is phased. DC1 to DC3, 10,800 racks is operational with a 2013 target; DC4 and DC5 is commissioning with a 2025 target; DC6 to DC8, 15,000 10kW-equivalent racks is under construction. The dated record runs from under construction on 1 July 2012 to operational and expanding on 19 June 2025. The money on record is CN¥3.1bn as of August 2025, the announced investment. Power comes from 内蒙古电力(集团)有限责任公司 (Inner Mongolia Power Group), Hohhot branch through a dedicated substation at 220 kV. Cooling uses air cooling.
The US export control position for advanced AI chips in China, as of 7 October 2026, is recorded as “Licence required, presumption of denial, case-by-case review for H200-class chips since 15 January 2026”. ArusGrid holds 16 public sources for this project, the latest dated 19 October 2026, and last checked the record on 22 October 2026.
Running capacity. The site is operational or expanding. The rules are fixed and published on the Methodology page.
A Huawei Ascend 910C air-cooled supernode cluster of about 300 PFLOPS (BF16) went live on 31 Aug 2025. China Unicom calls the site its super-large training centre node.
A party to this project (its operator, that operator's group, a funder, or a confirmed client) is headquartered in China or Macau or has an ultimate parent there. US rules require a licence for advanced AI chips destined to such entities wherever they are located. This describes the rule and says nothing about whether a licence was sought, granted or refused. Criteria are published on the Methodology page.

No tenant disclosed. Most colocation leases are confidential, so this says nothing about occupancy. Not yet checked against second-order sources.
No published price band exists for China, and ArusGrid does not estimate from the regional benchmark alone. What was searched is listed on the Colo prices page.
