Next gate to watch: Land secured.

Your call. Will it be built?

Build odds is ArusGrid's reading of the public record, not a forecast, a rating or advice. It counts the gates this project has passed in public sources. Private progress does not show, a passed gate can be undone, and projects that pass every gate still stop. The method has not yet been tested against outcomes. How it works.

How India approves, powers and taxes data centers is on Data center rules in India.

Where it sits

Hyderabad holds 15 active projects with 1,128 MW of planned IT load between them, and TCS HyperVault Hyderabad AI campus has no published figure so it sits outside that ranking. Of those, 5 are operational, 3 are under construction, 3 are at the land and permitting stage and 4 are announced only. Published colocation vacancy in Hyderabad was 23.4% as of June 2025. Vacancy excludes hyperscaler self-build.

HyperVault has 1 other in India tracked by ArusGrid, including TCS HyperVault Anakapalli. Named funding comes from Tata Consultancy Services and TPG on the equity side. The named user of the compute is OpenAI (reported, unconfirmed).

The stage was recorded as at the land and permitting stage on 5 September 2026. The money on record is INR 700bn (about US$8.1bn) as of September 2026, the announced investment.

The US export control position for advanced AI chips in India, as of 27 September 2026, is recorded as “No US destination-based licence requirement as enforced”. ArusGrid holds 5 public sources for this project, the latest dated 5 September 2026, and last checked the record on 13 October 2026.

OpenAI's own 'OpenAI for India' announcement (18 Feb 2026) says it is 'the first customer of Tata Consultancy Services' HyperVault data center business, beginning with 100 megawatts of capacity and with potential to scale to 1 gigawatt over time'. Neither OpenAI nor TCS names a site. TCS's 5 Sep 2026 release and Business Standard present the Hyderabad Bharat Future City campus as HyperVault's first and only announced campus, so the link to this row is ArusGrid's; stays reported until TCS or OpenAI places the capacity.
