Google (Pearl Computing) Elmina Data Centre & Cloud Region is a data center project in City of Elmina, Shah Alam, Malaysia, operated by Google (via Pearl Computing). It is under construction. The operator has not published a capacity figure, and ArusGrid does not estimate one.
Record last checked against its sources on 21 October 2026.
Build odds is ArusGrid's reading of the public record, not a forecast, a rating or advice. It counts the gates this project has passed in public sources. Private progress does not show, a passed gate can be undone, and projects that pass every gate still stop. The method has not yet been tested against outcomes. How it works.
How Malaysia approves, powers and taxes data centers is on Data center rules in Malaysia.
Klang Valley holds 33 active projects with 1,911 MW of planned IT load between them, and Google (Pearl Computing) Elmina Data Centre & Cloud Region has no published figure so it sits outside that ranking. Of those, 5 are operational, 5 are operational and expanding, 10 are under construction, 7 are at the land and permitting stage and 6 are announced only. No third party publishes a colocation vacancy rate for Klang Valley, and ArusGrid does not estimate one.
Google has 4 others in Malaysia and 4 projects elsewhere in the dataset tracked by ArusGrid, including Google (Pearl Computing) Port Dickson, Google (Pearl Computing) Puncak Alam and Google (reported) Serendah Campus. It sits on the Elmina Business Park alongside Google Elmina 2 (SDP EBP Asset II). The named user of the compute is Google (Pearl Computing Malaysia Sdn Bhd) (confirmed).
The build is phased. Phase 1 (49 acres) is under construction with a 2027 target; Phase 2 (77 acres, RM5.6bn) is under construction with a 2027 target. Power comes from TotalEnergies / MK Land (via TNB grid) through a renewable power purchase agreement.
Grid power for a large industrial user in Malaysia costs about US$0.14 per kWh as of July 2025, the country figure ArusGrid applies where a site has no published rate. The US export control position for advanced AI chips in Malaysia, as of 27 September 2026, is recorded as “No US destination-based licence requirement as enforced”. ArusGrid holds 5 public sources for this project, the latest dated 20 August 2026, and last checked the record on 21 October 2026.
Construction or financing is evidenced, or several independent signals agree. The rules are fixed and published on the Methodology page.
Reaching this stage requires a dated construction source, which corroborates the project on its own.
